Halloween in Transylvania (HiT) is a journey through the cultural heritage and mysterious land of Transylvania: castles full of history, breathtaking landscapes, delicious traditional food, promenades through Romania’s most beautiful towns, and parties with your fantastic international friends.
The first edition took place back in 2011 and due to its success, the event has been organised since then annually, growing every year and becoming ESN Romania’s trademark, a must for every international student coming to Romania. The event changed in size and format from an edition to another, driven by the desire to improve it and make it as memorable as possible for each participant.
Nowadays, Halloween in Transylvania is organised at the end of October every year and brings together hundreds of international students from all over Romania. During four days, the participants get to explore the legendary realm of Bram Stoker’s Dracula: Transylvania. Beyond myths and legends, they get the chance to discover one of the most picturesque regions in Romania, with castles and breathtaking landscapes, with unique traditions and delicious cuisine.
The latest edition took place between the 31st October and the 3rd November 2019 and it reunited over 650 participants. It all started with a visit to the charming Peleş Castle, the residence of Romania’s former royal family, in Sinaia and it continued with the Halloween Party, the most awaited moment of the trip. The other day, the participants visited the famous castle of Dracula (Bran Castle) and other attractions in the mountain area of Brașov such as Râșnov Citadel. The highlight of the event was the Flag Parade that took place on Saturday in the city centre of Braşov, bringing together, united in diversity, international students from all over Europe. The participants had the chance to explore Braşov through a city hunt, engaging them in activities allowing them to discover the city in a fun way, or to make friends and have a good time during the Masquerade Party, or at the Flag Party.
